Attached is a factsheet for the operation that provides further information, maps and important safety precautions. Amongst other bullet points, they have noted that:

  • The operation will start anytime from Sunday 1st October. Two days are required for the operation. The first will be for the sowing of non-toxic ‘pre-feed’ pellets, followed by toxic bait pellets about a week later. It is important to have at least 48 hours of dry weather after each drop;
  • The aerial 1080 control will impact on hunting in the Matukituki Valley. If hunting these valleys afterwards the standard safety precautions apply.
  • Businesses are reminded to keep up to date with DOC’s pesticide summaries at www.doc.govt.nz/pesticide-summaries
